Legacy Co-op is thrilled to announce a major sponsorship of $150,000 in partnership with the Yorkton Lions Club to launch a Christmas Lights project in Yorkton, Saskatchewan. This new annual holiday light event, set to illuminate the heart of the Parkland this winter season, aligns with LegacyCo-op’s vision of “Providing Value to our Communities” and complements their annual Season of Giving.
The Christmas Light project is inspired by the spirit of community and celebration in the holiday season. The first year of this special drive-thru holiday light event will feature 20 spectacular light displays, and 30 dazzling lighted trees, transforming the City of Yorkton Campground into an illuminated winter wonderland. This initiative not only promises to bring joy and wonder to attendees but also supports local businesses and boosts tourism during the winter months.
Legacy Co-op General Manager, Harley McClughan, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “We are proud to support this endeavour that brings the community together and attracts people to visit Yorkton. We look forward to seeing everyone there, making lifelong memories.”
The Yorkton Lions, known for their significant contributions to community service and development, is equally excited about this collaboration. Denny Vachon, President of the Yorkton Lions, states, “This generous contribution from Legacy Co-op allows us to offer something truly special to the people of Yorkton and surrounding areas. It’s more than just a light show; it’s an experience we know families will make a tradition for years to come.”
The Christmas Light project is scheduled to start in December 2024, at The City of Yorkton Campground. More details including a naming contest will be announced as the project continues. We invite everyone in the community to join us in this festive celebration, which promises to light up the holidays and the hearts of all who attend.
