Legacy Co-op donates $22,895.18 for Good Buy to Hunger.

Legacy Co-op is pleased to share a meaningful contribution made possible by its members and customers to community organizations helping to address hunger in the Parkland region. Over the month of February, Legacy Co-op organized cheque presentations with The Salvation Army Yorkton, The Soup Haven, Bruno’s Place – Prairie Harvest Community Centre, Shelwin House, SIGN Kamsack Family Resource Centre, and the Churchbridge Public School Snack Program.

Good Buy to Hunger is a yearly initiative that dedicates the funds raised to supporting community organizations committed to helping reduce hunger. Teams at Legacy Co-op Food Stores and C-Stores worked throughout the month of December to help members understand the importance of the initiative and how every donation can contribute.

To build the impact of the total donations raised, Legacy Co-op matched donations up to $5,000. The result was a total contribution of $22,895.18 distributed across the participating organizations.

Funds were allocated based on the amounts raised within each community. In Yorkton, The Soup Haven, Bruno’s Place – Prairie Harvest Community Centre, and Shelwin House each received $5,420.60. The Salvation Army Yorkton received $3,420.60 through the campaign, along with an additional $2,000 contribution from Kraft and the Yorkton Food Store, for a total of $5,420.60.

In surrounding communities, the SIGN Kamsack Family Resource Centre received $1,963.10, and the Churchbridge Public School Snack Program received $1,249.68.

Funds raised through Good Buy to Hunger remain within the communities where they are collected and support local food programs and services for individuals and families.

Legacy Co-op thanks all members, customers, and team members who contributed to this year’s campaign.
